LESBOS. Mytilene. Circa 521-478 BC. Hekte (Subaeratus, 10 mm, 2.00 g, 5 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Head of a ram to right; below, rooster standing left, pecking at the ground. Rev. Incuse lion’s head with open jaws to left; behind, bipartite rectangular punch. Cf. Bodenstedt 11, SNG Copenhagen 300 and SNG von Aulock 7718 (for prototype). Minor breaks in plating and with a light scuff on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
